Visitors from Antarctica

 Carry and Dave

On Tuesday the fourth of March 2014 Carry and Dave from America came to Learning
Community Seventeen to talk about their awesome job working in Antarctica. We were very intrigued about the amazing animals they get to see while they are working on the ice.

Carry works in an office with lots of phones, speakers and computers she says she loves her job because she gets to answer all the phone calls from the other stations, about what they have been doing. Dave gets to go on the snow-mobile every day to check that the lights on the run way are still working. Dave also said that he loves to drive other vehicles around on the
ice.

Dave and Carry have been going down to Antarctica to work for more than twenty years. They go back to America when the weather starts to change into winter in Antarctica. I really enjoyed it when we got to try on some of their gear that they get to wear while they are outside in the snow researching and exploring the animals.

  1. We had Carey and Dave visit LC 9 and LC 10 too. We could have listened to them all day and I agree Elise I was intrigued as well. The temperature surprised me that it was that warm in Summer. We took some photos from their slide show so pop on over to check them out.
We are also still writing questions for Carey and Dave but LC 17 you might already know some of the answers
